Apps For Emergencies

Let's face it the crime rate in Ireland is rising, although the statistics suggest it's dropping we've all seen crime and perhaps even experienced it first hand, I know I have!

Recently I needed to phone my local Garda Station in a rather huge hurry. This was fine as I knew the number off hand, but I thought to myself, how many people actually know where the nearest emergency service to them is and do they know the number. Or what if I wasn't at home that night and no-one knew the number? Would they have to waste time ringing directory enquiries, would they just ring 999? What if I was in a strange town and I needed a Garda Station or Hospital in a hurry? All these scenarios got me thinking of how I could make something to help if these situations arose.

So I did what I know best, I turned to my trusty iPhone to see if I could find as they saying goes, 'an app for that'. What I found was an app for doctors in Ireland, but nothing for emergency services such as GardaĆ or Hospitals. So I said to myself, "I'll make one!"

I spent a month designing and coding until I came up with something I was happy with. What I came up with was a few apps to help, Hospitals of Ireland, Gardai of Ireland and Doctors of Ireland. All these apps allow the user to find a service in any county of Ireland, call that service from the app and even view their nearest emergency service.

Gardai of Ireland Station Details

Doctors of Ireland County List

Personally I'm gonna have these on my iPhone from now on and I'll be constantly updating them incase I'm ever in a situation where I need the Gardai or other Emergency Services again.

All these apps are up on the app store(iTunes link), why not have a look, they could help you out in a sticky situation.
